SpaceXAI signed an agreement to give Anthropic access to Colossus 1, one of the world’s largest AI supercomputers, as demand for Claude continues to strain the infrastructure behind frontier AI systems.

Anthropic plans to use the additional compute to improve capacity for Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers, according to SpaceXAI’s announcement. The deal gives Anthropic access to a cluster with more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, including H100, H200, and next generation GB200 accelerators.

The agreement deepens the scramble for AI compute as leading labs compete for the chips, power, and infrastructure needed to train and operate larger models.

Colossus 1 is designed for AI training, fine tuning, inference, high performance computing, large language models, multimodal systems, scientific simulations, and generative AI workloads.

Anthropic also expressed interest in working with SpaceXAI to develop multiple gigawatts of orbital AI compute capacity. SpaceXAI said demand for next generation AI systems is outpacing what terrestrial power, land, and cooling can deliver on required timelines.

The agreement brings together two major players in the AI race, with SpaceXAI supplying compute and Anthropic using it to support Claude subscriber products.

The partnership comes as Anthropic expands Claude beyond chat into coding, enterprise workflows, and agentic tools.

Earlier Wednesday, Anthropic launched new Claude Managed Agents features, including dreaming, outcomes, and multiagent orchestration, aimed at helping agents remember past work, check their outputs, and handle more complex tasks with less human steering.
