My First Experience at HackQuest Co-Learning Camp (Bittensor, TAO & All That Confusion 😅)

I recently attended the HackQuest Co-learning Camp, and honestly this was my first real exposure to things like Bittensor, TAO, chute and all that. Before this, I only knew basic stuff about blockchain and Bitcoin, nothing too deep. So in the beginning, everything was just going over my head.

Good thing is they started with basics first. Like what blockchain is, how Bitcoin works, what miners and validators do, and things like hot keys and cold keys. I had heard these terms before, but this time it felt a bit more clear not fully, but at least I could connect some dots. Still, there were moments where I thought I understood, but actually I didn’t 😅

Then came Bittensor, and that’s where things got confusing again. Concepts like decentralized AI, subnets, TAO tokens, and chute were completely new to me. It felt like too much at once, but the speaker explained it in a simple way, so I didn’t feel totally lost.

The hands on mining setup was actually the most interesting part. It was confusing and frustrating sometimes because things didn’t work in one go, but when it finally worked, it felt really good. I still don’t fully understand mining, but now I know how it looks practically.

Overall, the biggest challenge was too many new terms at once. My advice for beginners would be don’t try to learn everything together. Just start with basics and go step by step. Even if you feel confused, it’s normal. Just keep going.
