How Many People Has Trump Screwed Over?

It’s a really interesting question when you think about it. The Presidency has sweeping authority over so many areas of the country, and now, we have a President that barely cares about any of them! So the big question we’ll be trying to answer is, how many people has Trump really wronged, and what damage, monetary or otherwise, has that caused the country?

Crypto Hoax:

“Stop The Steal” may have been his catchphrase when he tried to convince everyone he didn’t lose the 2020 election, but unfortunately, his hatred for thievery didn’t last past his inauguration. In fact, since his inauguration his personal wealth has increased by approximately 3 billion dollars, and that’s just in one year! Proponents of the President wouldn’t call this thievery, just a combination of savvy investments perhaps. But, when we look under the microscope, that belief just doesn’t seem to hold up for long.

Take his crypto currency scheme for example. Trump has passed sweeping legislation aimed at making his own crypto coin, “Trump Coin” more successful, and he’s profited immensely off of it. That profit hasn’t been coming from just your run of the mill day traders either. It’s been coming from the pockets of wealthy magnates both domestic and foreign looking to cory favor, or in one such case, buy sensitive, strategically significant technology.

That’s right, Trump used his crypto holdings to literally sell out American interests to the highest bidder, which in this case was United Arab Emirates National Security Advisor, Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Through a $500 million deal, Tahnoon gained a 49% share in Trump’s crypto company, “World Liberty Financial”, and in exchange, the UAE got handed the keys to the future of artificial intelligence. Not long after this deal, Trump allowed the UAE to buy hundreds of thousands of computer chips essential to advanced AI development.

So how is this detrimental to the country? Well for starters, the President just made millions off of a deal only the powers of his position would allow, and none of it is likely to ever enrich the country he’s supposed to serve. More importantly, the chips that he allowed the UAE to buy were the same chips that President Biden prevented the sale of due to national security concerns. Now the UAE has them, they’re likely to rival our domestic industries with them, and they’re likely to give them to their third largest trading partner and our geopolitical rival, China. He’s done nothing but serve himself, and it’s not hard to see how that affects all of us for the worse. But hey, at least Trump’s great at making money…for himself.

Tariff Troubles:

Tariffs have been slowly bleeding businesses dry, I know it, you know it, hell, even Ronald Regan knew it! That hasn’t stopped Trump from swearing by them, saying they’re the, “Most beautiful word in the dictionary” and proclaiming they’ll save the economy. Well, one year into his term and they’ve just about done the opposite.

According to a Joint Economic Committee Report, it’s estimated that the average American family has paid more than $1,700 in tariff costs since the start of Trump’s tariff crusade. To put that into perspective, the median household income in 2024 was $83,730, and after adjusting for expenses, that leaves approximately $10,770, before taxes, for families to spend at the end of a year. Meaning, that Trump has stolen what is equivalent to %16 percent of every median households expendable income for a year. He did it while convincing his voter base that it was saving them money and he did all of this while breaking the law, because if you haven’t realized this yet, Trump doesn’t care about what’s legal.

It was the recent Supreme Court decision that rectified what most already knew, when in a 6–3 ruling the judges found that Trump had overstepped his authority by unilaterally instituting tariffs. What that means is that not only were families deprived of money they could ill afford to lose, but now, the tariff profits are liable to be repossessed by companies who are actively suing the government over tariff losses. Where does that leave the average American? Poorer, hungrier, and left holding the bag; responsible for paying the debt of a decision that was widely unpopular to begin with.

Facing Facts:

Let’s face it, if we went over every single time Trump screwed over the American people, you’d be reading a book instead. While I’d love to mention things like the child molesters he pardoned, the soy bean farmers he nearly bankrupted, and perhaps most importantly, the thousands of US citizens he’s disgustingly harassed using ICE, there just isn't enough time.
I think that’s the most tragic part of all, that we’re finding ourselves overwhelmed with the atrocity that is this Presidency that there isn’t enough space on the pages to say everything that should be said.

Yet, you read this far, which means that unlike Trump, you care about the integrity of the government and where this country is going. That should give you hope, because you’re not alone, and it wont be like this forever. While words struggle to fit onto pages like these, the pages themselves wont stop coming, the people who care wont stop reading, and if need be, there will be millions of them so that everyone now and in the future can read them, and know exactly how many people Trump screwed over.
