Choosing the right path to go on in life can be daunting. So how do you choose the right path in life?
It all comes down to a simple phrase: Knowing yourself. Some people may find it to be a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be.
That’s what I want to discuss in today’s post.

Choosing the right path involves knowing yourself.
Your interests, desires, and what truly makes you fulfilled in life is what you can aim for.
By doing that, you’re going in the right direction.
How to Choose the Right Path
The best way to go about choosing your path is evaluating your interests.
- What excites you?
- What talents do you have?
- How can you use that to contribute to society and make the world a better place?
The Problem with the Prescribed Path
This question is something that a lot of people struggle with, and I think people just have a hard time with.
As I mentioned in the post from the other day, many people are wired to go on a prescribed path in life.
I’ve talked about this before — It’s the path of go to school, get the job, get married, have kids, and then work a number of years until you have enough currency to retire.
That path has been promoted constantly, and the result is most people are unfulfilled and they feel regretful going down that path.
It comes back to that common question of what is the definition of insanity?
It’s doing the same thing over and over again, but you get very little results.
That’s how I view the typical path that most people go on —
They’ll go on this path, they do what they’re told, but in the end, they feel more regretful, more unhappy, and unfulfilled in life.
It’s sad because you only get this one life to live.
The Importance of Acting Early
If you don’t make the good decisions early on — I mean your 20s & 30s, those are like the prime time.
That’s like the prime time of your life.
It’s also the most crucial time where you can really set yourself on the right path, where you can live a life of purpose and so forth.
It’s something to ponder on because the sooner that you start, especially if you’re young, it definitely makes a difference.
My Personal Journey
Nearly 35 years old, I’ve asked myself over the last few years on what I want to do in life.
The reason is if I can do it now, then the next few years can make a big difference in how I live my life.
I can improve the quality of my life overall — Being able to live life on my own terms, while having that high level of freedom that most people do not have today or they will not.
They choose not to go about that route.

Those are all great books on how you can seek purpose in life, and how you can live a more fulfilling life and so forth.
