A criminal investigation that threatened to stall the Federal Reserve’s leadership transition is nearing its end. The Justice Department is expected to drop its probe into Fed Chair Jerome Powell as soon as Friday, ABC News reported.

The development comes after Senator Thom Tillis, a key Republican on the Senate Banking Committee, blocked Warsh’s confirmation pending resolution of the inquiry.
