📅 Day 2 — What I thought blockchain was vs reality
Ethan CaldwellJust now--
Before diving in, I thought blockchain was mostly about crypto prices, trading, and speculation.
That was the surface.
The reality is more structural than financial.
Blockchain is a coordination system. A trust layer. A way for independent actors to agree on shared truth without needing a central authority.
What surprised me most is how little of it is about “coins” and how much of it is about systems design, incentives, and infrastructure.
It’s closer to economics + computer science + game theory than anything else I expected.
I’m realizing that if I want to be useful in this space, I need to stop thinking like a user and start thinking like a builder.
That shift is uncomfortable — but necessary.
