Most companies bury their AI ethics documents in a PDF that nobody reads. Anthropic decided to turn theirs into an audiobook narrated by the people who actually wrote it.

“Claude’s Constitution,” the document outlining the values and behavioral guidelines for Anthropic’s flagship AI model, is now available as a free audiobook. Authored by Amanda Askell and Joe Carlsmith, it runs approximately two hours and lays out what Anthropic wants Claude to be, how it should behave, and the ethical principles underpinning its design.

What’s actually in the Constitution

The Constitution describes Anthropic’s intentions for aligning Claude’s values with human interests and ensuring AI safety. It’s the rulebook that tells Claude when to help, when to push back, and when to refuse entirely.

Askell leads much of Anthropic’s alignment research; Carlsmith’s work focuses on existential risk from AI. The audiobook was released on January 21, 2026.

The financial machine behind the ethics

Anthropic’s valuation has reached an estimated $800 billion as of April 18, 2026. The company was founded by former OpenAI executives Dario and Daniela Amodei.

Amazon announced a $25 billion investment in Anthropic on April 21, 2026, cementing a cloud services agreement that extends through 2036.

FTX invested $500 million in Anthropic in 2021, securing an approximate 8% stake. When FTX went through bankruptcy proceedings, that stake was sold for $884 million in March 2024. At today’s valuation, that same stake would be worth roughly $30 billion.

Recent turbulence and the road ahead

On April 27, 2026, Claude inadvertently deleted a production database.

The company has also faced criticism for what some have called “fear-based marketing” around its unreleased Claude Mythos model.

In early May, Anthropic announced the rollout of AI agents designed for financial tasks and secured a compute partnership with SpaceX. On May 5, 2026, Anthropic issued warnings about a 6-to-12 month window for AI-related cyber vulnerabilities.

What this means for investors

For crypto-adjacent investors, the FTX bankruptcy sale remains a cautionary tale about how forced selling during market distress can destroy value. An $884 million exit on what became a $30 billion position is the kind of loss that shapes how bankruptcy courts and creditor committees approach crypto holdings for years to come.

Anthropic’s warnings about AI cyber risks deserve attention from anyone holding digital assets. The company building one of the world’s most powerful AI systems is warning that AI-driven attacks on digital infrastructure are a near-term concern, with a specific 6-to-12 month window identified as of May 5, 2026.
